Photo Submission Instructions
We are collecting photographs and other historical images from our members to help preserve and tell the story of Teamsters Local 817.
We want to see the people, workplaces, friendships, and moments that have been part of our union's history.
What We're Looking For
You can submit photographs such as:

Photos of Local 817 members, past or present

Union meetings, rallies, events, and celebrations
-
Photos from your workplace
-
Photos with fellow members or coworkers
-
Photos of picket lines, strikes, organizing, or other union activities
-
Photos of Local 817 gatherings and social events
-
Historical photographs that show our members and their work

Any other images you feel help tell the story of Local 817

Old photos are especially welcome! Don't worry if a photograph isn't perfect or is decades old. Those images can be incredibly valuable to us.
Submitting Photos
IMPORTANT: Your name must also be included in the file names of all images uploaded to the dropbox.
Ex: “ John Smith 01, John Smith 02 “ or “ Jane Smith img 1, Jane Smith img 2”
Please submit the original/highest-resolution file you have. Jpg/png/tiff files preferred.
Select Photos of the highest quality and legibility you have
You must also fill out the submission form and add that to the drop box as well. It will tell us who submitted what, and what the images are of.
Self-Tape Interview Instructions
We want to hear directly from our members about what being part of Teamsters Local 817 means to you.
Please record yourself answering:
“What does being a member of Teamsters Local 817 mean to you?”
How long should your video be?
To start your video, wait a few seconds, introduce yourself with name and job role, then you can answer the question above.
Please aim for approximately 30 - 60 seconds. Try not go over 2 minutes
We'd rather have a genuine, thoughtful answer than something that sounds rehearsed. Please speak naturally. Don't worry about making it perfect!
➡️ Record horizontally
Please turn your phone sideways (landscape) rather than recording vertically.
This is especially important because your video may be edited together with other members' interviews.
📐 Keep the camera at eye level
Position your phone approximately at eye level, and If possible, place your phone on a stable surface. Please don't hold the phone in your hand while recording.
Try to frame yourself from approximately the chest or mid-torso up, with a little space above your head.
Face a window or another light source. Do not sit with a bright window directly behind you. A clean and uncluttered background is preferable. Also look for a quiet space to film away from crowded rooms, loud outdoor spaces or traffic, etc.
🎥 When you record
Once you are ready, look directly at the camera lens, not at your own image on the screen.
Before answering, pause for 2–3 seconds. After you finish your answer, pause for another 2–3 seconds before stopping the recording. This will give our editors room to make clean cuts between interviews.
Once finished, make sure you rename your file to include your name, then submit your video using the provided link below!
