Thomas J. O’Donnell served as Secretary-Treasurer of Theatrical Teamsters Local 817 for 23 years before being elected President in early 2013. Prior to his service as an officer of the local, he began his career in 1974 as a driver on “Stepford Wives”, later becoming a Transportation Captain. On April 1, 2014 he was appointed Director of the Teamsters Motion Picture Trade Division, advocating for work rules, regional and national area standards and other issues for the over ten thousand workers on the nation’s movie sets.
“Tom has been a strong partner in growing the Motion Picture Division from coast to coast” said IBT General President James Hoffa. “No one understands the industry better than Tom. He’s a tremendous leader who will continue to help Teamster locals navigate the ever changing industry landscape.”
Tom is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Museum of the Moving Image and COMPTU (Council of Motion Picture and Television Unions) Mr. O’Donnell has a B.S. in Industrial Psychology from St. Bonaventure University.
