LOCATIONS DEPT SURVEY

Will there be a Survey for the locations dept.? - Similar to the one 399 did several months before the beginning of negotiations. The meeting going over the contract, while generally good, is not enough to understand full what the members want in terms of representation.

It seems like the 399 model is very member forward in its transparency with the survey and town halls for the proposal. I am curious:

  • How will the Negotiating Committee be able to represent members interests properly, if they only told by Union Leadership what the members want and not the member?

  • It seem important and right to offer members the opportunity (in a Town Hall meeting with the Negotiating Committee,) to approve and comment on the initial proposal, especially the rate increases. With the promises made to focus on the ALMs and Scouts and that we would be the highest paid department (overall) in the country, it seem important for members to get the opportunity set the bottom line in advance by approving the proposal.

  • Does not following the 399 Model also mean allowing the contract negotiations to be extended for any period of time after ending?

  • What can we do to add a meeting to offer members to a full update on the specifics of the proposal and an opportunity to authorize a strike (Not advocating for one) to avoid going straight to a ratification vote. This was a big issue in the previous ratification and it doesn't feel right to repeat by skipping directly to the binary choice of striking or taking a less than we feel represented by in value.

  • What was the percentages of increases the Assistants and Coordinators got overall in the previous agreement?
