Reminder: Local 817 Locations Preference List goes into effect Oct 1st, 2025
Brothers and Sisters,
Under the 2024 Local 817 TV/TH Locations Agreement, new Preference Lists and training requirements were negotiated for the four classifications covered by the Agreement: Assistant Location Managers, Location Scouts, Location Department Coordinators and Location Assistants. These Preference Lists will go live on October 1, 2025.
This is very important: beginning October 1, your name will need to appear on a Local 817 Locations Preference List, and you will need to complete required training to continue working under the Agreement.
The application process is available at the Contract Services Industry Hub (thehub.org). Please read below for more details and refer to the attached Quick Start Guide for a step-by-step tutorial.
What You Need to Know
The new Preference Lists and training requirements will be administered by Contract Services, which is the organization that administers the “Industry Experience Roster” and Safety Pass training program for production crews in Hollywood.
Starting October 1, 2025, your name will need to appear on one of the Preference Lists in order to work under the Local 817 Locations Agreement. The Preference Lists will be searchable online at Contract Services Industry Hub (thehub.org). That’s how employers will check whether you’re on a Preference List and compliant with your training requirements starting October 1.
To be placed on a Preference List, you’ll need to complete an application process. That process is entirely online and available now: to begin, you’ll need to create a free Contract Services Portal account at the Industry Hub (thehub.org). Using your Portal, you will (1) start the application process, (2) electronically sign an application form, (3) upload your required work experience documentation, and (4) complete two preliminary training requirements: General Safety and Harassment Prevention training. (Refer to the attached Quick Start Guide for step-by-step instructions.)
After that, your application process will be complete, you will be able to complete your additional classification-specific safety training requirements. If you do all of this before October 1, 2025, your name will appear on the Preference List when it goes live and your record will show as training compliant.
All of the training you need to complete is available online. You will be eligible for a training stipend of $25/hour for the time you spend completing training requirements outside of your employment, which will be paid by Contract Services.
