New Jersey Film Expo

Back in May of this year, Teamsters Local 817 had the opportunity to participate in the Inaugural launch of the NJ Film Expo, hosted by SANJ (Screen Alliance of New Jersey). The event was held on May 1st, with the goal of showcasing the expanding and vibrant film industry in the state of New Jersey.

Over 6000 visitors to the Meadowlands Arena were able to visit 80 vendor booths featuring all areas of the industry, from production companies to equipment rental, cinematographers and more. They also hosted many great panels, discussing a wide range of topics including NJ films using cutting-edge technology and what opportunities that will present for the future of film production in the state, as well as discussing NJ as a prime location for filming on the East Coast. Teamsters Local 817 President Thomas J. O’Donnell and IA Local 52 President Dusty Klatt participated in one such panel, moderated by NJ film commissioner Jon Crowley.

Teamsters Local 817, a member of SANJ congratulates the Expo sponsors, New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission (NJMPTVC) and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) on the absolute success of this event. We look forward to many future expos as film production in NJ continues to thrive.
