Stockings With Care

This year marks the 34th year of the Stockings with Care Program. Founded in 1992 by retired Local 817 Casting Director Rosalie Joseph, and Screenwriter and Producer Tom Fontana, Stockings with Care is part of the Projects With Care Organization, a non-profit that provides families much needed supplies and gifts during the Holiday Season. The program receives donations from individual donors and various corporations, and with the help of kind volunteers and ‘Santas’ , have to date been able to provide over 40,000 children with presents and toys.

The Local 817 Executive Board was kind enough to provide the services of some of our own union drivers to help drive the vehicles for gift pickups, and Al and Tom Kharieh of Walton Hauling donated vehicles to the program for this year’s efforts. Special thanks to the many union members that turned out to support the program this year. Because of the continued support of so many ‘Santas’, this year over 3000 children will get to experience the magic of the Holidays, and know that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
