Members Have Online Access to Their Explanations of Benefits
Members enrolled in the Anthem Blue Cross PPO plan may receive medical claims Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) documents by electronic delivery only and discontinue receiving EOBs by mail.
To opt into receiving EOBs by electronic delivery only, members should log into the MPI website (www.mpiphp.org), go to the “More” tab at the top of the page, and select the “Communications Preferences” option. On the “Communications Preferences” page, your members can select and save the “Electronic” option under “Document Access” to receive electronic EOBs.
Email notification preferences for EOBs, MP3 Network Referrals, and Premium Payments can also be set under the “Emails” section of the page.
Reporting Deaths of Your Members
Members and their families should be aware of the process for reporting a death to MPI:
1) Reporting the death: A family member or representative must call MPI to report the member’s death. MPI cannot confirm over the phone whether the member had Pension Plan, Individual Account Plan, life insurance, or health benefits.
2) After the death is processed: MPI will mail benefit information to the beneficiary on file. If the person reporting the death is not the listed beneficiary, they will not receive this correspondence.
Please note that any HIPAA authorizations or powers of attorney on file become invalid upon the member’s death. MPI cannot provide benefit information over the phone to friends or family; all details will be sent by mail to the designated beneficiary.
