Dear Local 817,

On Friday, a federal judge allowed Elon Musk and DOGE access to sensitive US Labor Department data. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/02/08/doge-labor-department/

Local 817 is open about their financial contributions to local Republicans who support labor. An example is Rep. Mike Lawler, NY-17. Rep. Mike Lawler has remained silent on Elon Musk and DOGE's recent unlawful access of sensitive data. Lawler is my rep, so I wrote him to ask if he would take a stand on the issue of DOGE accessing our social security information. He replied that it's the Senate's job to evaluate the President's nominees, not the House of Representatives'. His answer is a cowardly sidestep of the question.

As a Teamster, I urge Local 817 to stop contributing to any candidate or elected official who supports or remains silent on Musk and DOGE's illegal access to the US Dept of Labor's sensitive data.
